Brunch at Home

Last Sunday, I surprised my sweetie with "Brunch at Home", a brunch delivery service from and in Zurich.
This is how it works: visit the Brunch at home homepage, chose between Classic, Deluxe, Royal, Family and VIP brunch and call or order online until 12:00 of the previous day. Monday to Friday, they will deliver your brunch between 8:00 and 13:00 and on Sunday between 9:00 and 13:00 to your place. On Saturdays, they will deliver on request.
I chose the "VIP" brunch with 2 croissants, 2 lye croissants, 2 small "Zopf", 1 wholemeal bread,
a cold cut platter with 160g cold cuts, a cheese platter, 2 fruits salads, 2 Birchermüesli, jam, Ovo Crunchy Cream, honey, butter, 2 boiled eggs, smoked salmon, 2 Michel juices, 2 Emmi Caffè Latte, 1 bottle of Champagne 0.375l, 2 peppermint and breakfast teas, daily newspaper, roses and a sweet surprise. Yes, this is a LOT! We couldn't eat up, the portion is definitely for 3 person!

At 11:00 sharp, the delivery boy rang my door bell - very punctual!

These stackable plastic plates are really practical - such a good idea!

Looks great, doesn't it? You can imagine how stuffed my boyfriend and I were afterwards... We couldn't eat up and didn't even open the Champagne. :-P

The VIP brunch costs CHF 145.- plus delivery CHF 5.- = CHF 150.-... I think this is too expensive. Actually, you could have a brunch buffet at a nice hotel for the same price.
However, Brunch at Home is a very lovely idea if you want to surprise a special someone or your family and would like to safe time and enjoy a lazy morning at home! A gift certificate is also available!

Annabelle Swap 2014

As mentioned in my previous post, I went to the fashion swap event yesterday in Kaufleuten, organized by the Swiss magazine annabelle.
I brought my 'old' clothes last weekend and got 2 chips of the category 'Street' and a wristband for the entry.

I arrived at 15:20, 10mins before the door opening and there was already a long line infront of the entrance.
Finally, we can get inside!

The guys in light green shirts served us a welcome drink, a refreshing Café de Paris "Hugo" with fresh peppermints! Yummy!

The entrance area was very packed and the ladies were getting impatient when the doorman didn't want to open the doors to the main floor even when it turned past 4PM...

Finally! As soon as the doors opened, the ladies pushed themselves to get to the main floor to snatch nice clothes, shoes and accessories.

Each clothes rails were labeled either "Street", "Cool" or "Luxe". There were even some new clothes with price tags on!

The shoes from the category "Luxe" were displayed nicely like in a boutique.

This was the check out area, where you swapped the clothes with the "chips" and where everyone got a goodie bag! Yay!

Here, the "buyers" are waiting in line to get access to the event from 5PM. Those who didn't bring clothes for swapping but who wanted to buy clothes and accessories also had the chance to attend this amazing event.

So this is what I got at the annabelle swap: black pumps from asos and a new flower tanktop from H&M still with tags on! ;-)
Inside the goodie bag: "The Colossal be Extreme" mascara from Maybelline, Café de Paris "Litchi" flavor and a 'Flexible hold hairspray, Instant dry' and a 'Silk shine cream' from "OSiS+ SESSION LABEL" by Schwarzkopf!
Yesterday's event was really crowded and bustling but the it was lots of fun and I would definitely go next year again!

Mother's Day Brunch at Palace Luzern Hotel

So, how did you enjoy mother's day? Did you give your mother a lovely present, send flowers or cooked a meal for her or did you take her to a nice restaurant? Or are you a mom and were you treated nicely from your daughter or son yesterday? :-)
I realized only last Thursday that coming weekend was mother's day (oops!) and thought I could invite her to a brunch at a place of her choice. She wanted to go to "Hotel (Art Deco) Montana" in Lucerne which is popular for it's beautiful view of the lake and of the mountains in the distance but when I asked my concierge to make a reservation, he told me that they were already fully booked since quite some time. He even said that most of the nice hotels were booked up on mother's day! ねこ のデコメ絵文字
Ok, I was too late... My mother and myself decided to enjoy our dinner at home.
But then my concierge called me back and told me that he was able to book a table at the hotel Palace Luzern for the special mother's day brunch. Yaay!

When we arrived after 11AM, we were directed to the function room "Ambassadeur" where already a lot of people were sitting at their tables and lining up at the buffet.
The tables were all decorated with beautiful, pastel colored flowers - so pretty!

The appetizer buffet on the left and bread, croissants, muesli, cereals and yogurt on the right.

Mmmmh, the appetizer was really good! It had green salads, greek salad, caprese salad, avocado with raw shrimps, ratatouille with cooked shrimps, Italian ham with melon,...

At the warm buffet scrambled egg, sausage, bacon, pancake, cooked vegetables, potato gratin, shrimp-cannelloni, fish, calf prime rib and chicken roll with basil were served.

At around 13:30, some of the appetizers were removed to make space for the dessert!

Ohhhh, look at this colorful dessert buffet! I am already stuffed from all the appetizers, breads, and main meal but I just can't say no to sweets! ;-) Especially when they look so lovely!

Panna cotta with mango Sauce, chocolate cheese cake, strawberry and chololate mousse, caramel éclair, various cakes, ice cream,... YUMMYYY!

At the end, all mothers received a rose from the hotel staffs. How nice! I also received one even though I am not a mother yet. ;)

"Muttertags-Brunch" (mother's day brunch) is served at Palace Luzern every year. CHF 80.- per person, warm and cold drinks - also sparking wine - are included.
So, if you want to treat your mother to a special brunch, I can totally recommend this! Afterwards, if the weather is nice, you can also have a nice walk by the beautiful Vierwaldstätter lake. Lucerne is really a beautiful city to visit!
On "usual" Sundays the "Easy Sunday Brunch" is served at the hotel. CHF 65.- pp from 11:00 - 15:00.
Reservations can be made under +41 (0)41 416 10 37 or info@palace-luzern.ch.

Café LACOMBE

There are so many nice cafés and brasseries in Paris. I wish we had some of them in Zurich, too!
On our last night, my sweetie and I decided to have a beer and cup of tea nearby our hotel. We walked by several nice places but the beers were so expensive! My BF didn't want to pay EUR 8,00 / 9,00 just for a normal bottle beer...
In the end, we ended up at "LACOMBE", located on 55 Rue des Acacias - not far away from Arc de Triomphe. We sat outside but the inside looked very pretty!! ♥ I realized it only in the end, before we left the café... Next time I'm in Paris, I have to come back to Lacombe again, sit inside and have breakfast/brunch or tea! Apparently, the croissants and the pastries here are delicious...

I ordered a green tea called "Sakura 2000". I assumed that the tea will be served with flower petals since sakura means cherry blossom in Japanese. ;-)
(I just googled Sakura 2000 as I'm writing this, and ohhh it's a scented tea from the French gourmet tea brand Mariage Frères! No wonder it tasted really good!)

The bar looks awesome, too!

Pretty and delicious-looking pastries!
The café provides free wi-fi and you should check out their homepage: looks like a cool fashion magazin!

Caffè Jadis

Another blog entry about our short stay in Paris: Today, I'm gonna write about the lovely restaurant Caffè Jadis that we found by chance when we were looking for a nice inexpensive restaurant nearby the Moulin Rouge area.
It is small but a very pretty, warm and cosy place with friendly and nice waiters. Their English were limited but they were helpful and explained the menu, were patient and gave us time when we were indecisive. The menu is small but well selected and everything is homemade and you can get a 2-course dinner menu for EUR 21,00 (lunch menu EUR 16,00) when you chose from today's specials on the board.

As a starter, I ordered from the "entrée au choix" (today's appetizer) tarte aux poireaux bacon (leek pie with bacon). It tasted homemade and very tasty! And the baguettes were soooo good, too!

Then, I had the roast veal (rôti de veau braisé) as my main meal which was tender and delicious!

If you go for the 2-course menu, you can also chose a main and a dessert instead of a starter.
The desserts in the show case all looked very delicious but I was so stuffed, I couldn't eat anymore...
Caffè Jadis is really recommendable! When we arrived around 6PM, there were only 2 other guests but after about an hour the restaurant was getting crowded and at the time we left, only the 2 tables nearby the bathroom were vacant. ;-) It seems to be popular among the locals - which is a very good sign!
